Vienna Moose Lodge #1896
Pursuant to Chapters 47, 48, and 50 of the Moose General Laws.
Welcome to the Vienna Moose Lodge. To ensure a safe, welcoming, and fraternal environment for all members and their qualified guests, the following rules are strictly enforced by the Board of Officers:
I. Admission and Guest Policies (The Private Policy)
Membership Verification: All active members of The Moose shall be admitted to the social quarters. Each member must submit proof of membership and display their membership card when requested by any member of the Board of Officers or its authorized staff.
The Guest Rule: You are either a member or a guest. Only active members whose status has been verified are permitted to make purchases in the social quarters. Approved applicants for membership, prior to enrollment, shall not make purchases.
Adult Guest Restrictions: All adult guests must be signed into the guest register. The introducing member is fully responsible for the conduct of their guests, and guests must leave the premises when their sponsoring member leaves.
Prospective Member Limitations: A prospective member (any guest accompanied by a member who can sponsor them) is limited to two (2) visits total to the social quarters. They must remain accompanied by their sponsor at all times and cannot make purchases.
Immediate Family Registry: An active member’s immediate family may be admitted as a qualified guest. Family members under the age of 21 may visit regularly, but family members 21 or older are limited to two visits unless they apply for membership.
Expired Status: A member in expired status shall not enter any Lodge or social quarters except for the express purpose of paying their dues. Expired members do not qualify to be admitted as a guest.
II. Conduct and Decorum
Prohibition of Profanity: Vulgar, profane, violent, or indecent conduct and language are absolutely prohibited at any time in the social quarters, lodge home, on lodge property, or during any Moose-sponsored activity.
Property Damage: Members are personally and financially responsible for any removal of or damage to lodge property caused by themselves or their guests. Full restitution must be paid immediately upon demand.
No Extension of Credit: Credit shall not be extended in the social quarters. The running of a “tab” is permitted only if the total amount is paid in full by the close of business on the same day.
Lodge Hours: The social quarters shall open and close at hours designated by the Board of Officers. At the designated closing hour, all persons must vacate the social quarters and home immediately.
III. Critical Safety & Substance Policies (2025 Updates)
Absolute Lethal Weapons Ban: Firearms and lethal weapons are strictly prohibited anywhere on Moose Lodge property. This firewall extends to the lodge home, the social quarters, outdoor patio spaces, and the entire parking lot area.
Weapons Penalty: Any member or guest—other than a law enforcement officer in the line of duty—found in possession of a firearm or lethal weapon on lodge property shall be immediately expelled from the fraternity.
Locked Vehicle Stash: The weapons ban does not apply to legal firearms that remain continuously locked inside a member’s vehicle, provided they are stored in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
Intoxication: No person in a state of intoxication, as determined by a server, shall be allowed to enter or remain in the social quarters or lodge home.
Off-Premises Sales: The sale of alcoholic beverages to be consumed off-premises (package sales) is strictly prohibited.
Cannabis Ban: The use of all cannabis products is absolutely prohibited at any time anywhere in the social quarters, lodge home, or on lodge property.
Smoking and Vaping Restrictions: The use of any tobacco product or electronic smoking device (including e-cigarettes and vapes) is strictly prohibited inside the social quarters and lodge building at all times. Smoking or vaping is restricted entirely to lawful, designated outdoor areas.
IV. Fraternal Traditions
The Nine O’clock Ceremony: The Nine O’clock Ceremony shall be performed, and an endowment fund collection conducted, whenever members are assembled (including in the social quarters and during social functions) to support the children of Mooseheart and the seniors of Moosehaven.
